Coral Bay Beach is among the best beaches of Paphos and its surroundings. It is the most visited beach on Cyprus’s west coast. Coral Bay is one of the best beaches for families with children of all ages in the Paphos resort area.

The popularity of the Coral Bay Beach among tourists and citizens of Paphos is due to the fact that the shore has exceptionally soft fine light yellow sand. Most beaches of Paphos tourist area have a mixed cover, consisting of sand, shellfish or pebbles and aren’t pleasant as much. The shore of the Coral Bay consists of pure silky sand, which is comfortable to rest on and is fun for kids to play with it. Sand for Coral Bay usually moves from other beaches of Cyprus. As the sand is washing away with the sea, the beach becomes completely “renewed” once in a 20 years.

Another advantage of the Coral Bay Beach is the seabed. It is sandy, shallow, with comfortable access to the water and a smooth depth increase. There are several underwater rocks but they are quite large and tend to appear above the sea surface, so it’s hard not to notice them. This characteristics makes swimming here the most optimal and safe for children.

The beach locates inside a cozy bay and surrounded by a high rocky peninsula Maa-Paleokastro on the right side and the promontory which is spreading far into the sea on the left side. After the coastal zone, a Coral Bay Beach scenery hides behind the hill.

The Coral Bay Beach geography saves pleasant warm weather. The water in the sea is usually from 3 to 5 degrees warmer than on other beaches on Paphos territory. The only feature of the Coral Bay Beach that can cause discomfort is the dark algae. They appear both in the water and on the beach. But cleaners remove them on daily basis. The Coral Bay is not inferior comparing to other famous Cyprus beaches in terms of amenities, comfort and infrastructure. The beach has the “Blue Flag” certificate. The Coral Bay Beach is equipped with rental of beach inventory, changing cabins, showers with fresh water and fountains for washing feet. The rescue team is on duty during the day. There are massage rooms on the beach Coral Bay. Small tents where in the shadows and fresh air you can relax while receiving pleasure from the massage procedure.

The coast of the Coral Bay Beach takes about a kilometer in length and from 10 to 40 meters in width. While the length of the most prepared zone for bathing is about 600 meters. According to the high popularity of the Coral Bay Beach – often the beach is almost completely filled with visitors – there are quite a lot of places for recreation. Typically, there are two chaise-lounges and an umbrella that protects from the sun. The pairs of chaise-lounges are located at a sufficient distance from each other to not to disturb visitors. At the same time, vacationers can easily stay away from the main bathing area in more spacious and quiet places. Prices of beach services and prices in the nearest cafes caused popularity of the Coral Bay Beach. They are slightly higher than the average prices within the city of Paphos.

You can quench your hunger and thirst at the beach bars such as “Namos Beach Bar” which is located closer to the Maa peninsula in the northern part of the beach, and at “Paradise Beach Bar Coral Bay” at the opposite side of the beach. These bars have very simple design where you can buy quite simple local cuisine dishes and drinks. In the evening, these same bars hold beach parties on the shore. Connoisseurs of exquisite and exotic cuisine can visit restaurants of Indian, Chinese and Japanese cuisine such as “Gold Temple Chinese & Indian Restaurant Coral Bay” and “Samisen Japanese Restaurant“. These restaurants are located in five minutes’ walk from the beach.

On the Coral Bay Beach there is quite widely represented the entertainment sector. Its mainly implemented by the center “Coral Bay Watersports“. Here you can rent water equipment, go water skiing, take a ride on parachute, towed by a boat. Also there are children’s water activities: inflatable pontoon hills, riding on a “banana”. The bar “Namos Beach Bar” has a small playground for playing beach volleyball. But around the playground there are places for tourists so the game can be inconvenient for both players and holidaymakers.

At the beach itself, before entering the peninsula, there is a 5-star luxury hotel “Thalassa Boutique Hotel & Spa“. A little further there is another similar in quality of services hotel “Coral Beach Hotel & Resort“. The beach “Corallia Beach” is a part of these hotels. This beach is municipal and can be visited by everyone if there is no free space on the Coral Bay Beach.

Closer to the edge of the Maa Paleokastro peninsula located the Mycenaean settlement of the Cyprus Museum and the current archaeological site. This small museum is built on the site of excavations of the ancient settlement of Mycenaean Greeks who found refuge at Cyprus after the fall of the Mycenaean kingdom. That settlement arose in the XII century BC and existed until 1150 BC. The museum exposition presents archaeological finds made at the place of the excavation. But tourists consider the unusual design of the museum building much more interesting: it looks like a landed UFO. Visitors can take wonderful and funny pictures near it.
